The willingness of the community to back Emporia unified school district is what sets it apart from other school districts. Teachers, students, and parents all care and wish to see those in the school succeed. Along with this the school is well maintained and brings an environment to the kids that pushes learning and great relationships. Extracurricular activities play a huge role in the school. All coaches and mentors take great pride in developing the kids they are with. They build the students into young adults and do not let sports or the club they are involved in be their only identity.

My experience at Emporia High has been great! I really enjoy the one-on-one time we get with the teachers and how you have small class sizes of between twenty to twenty- five students. I feel as though the teachers try to get you ready for college as best as they can. I believe this school really cares about their students and want them to succeed!
At Emporia High this year they switched to trimesters instead of semesters. I think this makes it harder on the students and teachers because of all of the switching of classes and having the same class everyday instead of every other day. In college you normally don't have the same classes everyday and have time to finish homework before you have the class again. When trimesters took place, students had a harder time finishing their work and keeping focused because classes are longer and everyday. I think Emporia High should switch back to the semester schedule and it would make it easier on students and teachers both!
As a senior in high school, I grew up in Emporia, KS going to school up from preschool to high school. There was a lot of diversity and the teachers really cared about the students. Whether it was academics or a student's individual troubles, they were always willing to help a student out. Students are also very accepting, especially in high school. From my experience, there was also no bullying involved ever. Even though I had a good time in this district, I think there could be a lot of improvements like more diversity within teachers and more student involvement but overall, I enjoyed being here and will miss this place.
