Elysian Fields was a school that is behind in a lot of places. The education there is not bad if you're in honors, but the class selection is very thin because of the size of the school. There are only 2 AP courses offered and no funding to anything outside of sports and SOME UIL events. The theatre program has absolutely no funding, which is a shame because the theatre director, Mrs. Woodley cares about everyone involved and pushes all actors to be better. Another recurring issue is the revolving door of teachers in history classes and such. Since history classes are generally taught by coaches, they are often not renewed or fired due to the lack of success in sports. Aside from that, very few textbooks have been updated at the school since the early 2000s. Only the Calculus and Chemistry textbooks are really up-to-date. UIL is a major focus and definitely a positive at the school. We were district champions in the 2018-19 school year and this year looked promising.
At first all I could say about Elysian Fields Independent School District was that it was an amazing community filled with caring pupils, and though that is true it also has its flaws. For one, they do not take care of behavioral issues accordingly, and sometimes the teachers are not considerate of students situations. However, every student, teacher, relative, or administrator has each other’s back, you are never alone as when one person has a problem we all have a problem. Luis Martinez is in the hospital for surgery and was on life support, we have raised funds and prayed for him. He is out of his coma and we are still praying and raising money for him to get the care that he needs. Yes we have our faults ,but with God, time, consideration, trust, and respect we will get better and stand stronger than ever before.
EFHS is a very good school to go to as far as learning, and everyone is super friendly! The teachers are helpful and want you to succeed! The sports programs are off the chain as well! In such a small community, it's a great school.
