Ellicott is a small community where everyone knows basically everyone else. In Highschool you will have each teacher at least once, in the four years you are here. This allows you to create vital bonds with your classmates, as well as as your teachers. The only down side of this school is the lack of opportunities we have for gaining traction after Highschool. Of course there are AP classes and beauty school and trades, however unless you are extremely intelligent, good at weilding, sports or art or willing to miss most of your school day there are not much opportunities for the average person.
Ellicott D22 offers a wide variety of classes for students and firmly supports the students. It is a small, rural school that offers programs larger schools may not. It is a good district for students who struggle and need extra help, but there are some drawbacks. Student expression is not always freely welcomed, and it can be difficult to feel as though you fit in, especially when you are an "unusual" individual. There is a rather strict no bullying policy, but students often feel reluctant to speak up about their bullying experiences. It would be greatly beneficial if the staff could do more to advocate for those students who face discrimination in anyway.
Ellicott High School works as a golden-boy-system, where if you know the right people and say the right things then your voice will be heard. Academics is below average and only prepares one for military or trades. Very little university or college preparation
