Ellensburg School District is an amazing district for such a small, farming town. I've attended ESD schools since I was 5, and I have had an excellent experience. The district tries to always cater to higher-performing students with opportunities like Challenge, Quest, and many, many honors and AP classes.
However, changes are often made without the input of the public. For example, the winter break was changed to only one week for the 2018-19 school year, without the knowledge of many students or parents before receiving the year's calendar. In addition, while our middle school Highly Capable teacher took leave, the school board decided to try and not have someone else teach the class, and leaving higher-performing students in normal level classes.
Despite this, academics are still quite good. The sports offered are pretty typical as well: wrestling, tennis, soccer, basketball, football, etc.

My experience here is quite positive overall, but the only thing is that there is little diversity at the school district. Many are close-minded, and backward thinking. I would love to see more progressive changes in the future.
It was hard for me to meet people in college. the campus and facilities were great, however the people were very closed off to welcoming new comers. it was hard to make friends and feel accepted into the fold, so to speak. The facility were amazing, some of the best people that I have ever had the opportunity to learn from. Overall I would recommend the Ellensburg school system to anyone. to sum up. people seem close minded and hard to become friends with but the teachers and facilities are top notch.
