I feel as if this district needs a lot of improvements. There is an increasing amount of COVID cases in schools, but we are still forced to be there in person. Seeing as EGHS is the only high school with lockers, students should be able to use them until they are disposed. But, the district claims that it is unsafe because students will be closer together and spread COVID, even though they are constantly crammed together during lunch and in classrooms. There is NO social distancing being enforced as well. This shows that our safety and health is not prioritized. There are also multiple staff members who do not respect students effort and hard work in school and have unreasonable policies. The amount of fights that break out constantly shows that there is a lack of discipline enforced. It overall seems like students complaints are not being acknowledged and the districts just cares for their jobs. Overall I feel like this district does not prioritize students health and learning.
I go to a school in Rancho Cordova that is part of the Elk Grove Unified School District. I love it! The teachers are very friendly, and they make sure you always have something to do, they try their best to make learning fun, and they always involve your parents in fun events, the proper way. I will soon not be going to Elk Grove Unified School District. I am sad.
I would like to see a change in the teaching curriculum, I would also like to see a change in the way we mark students absents and having mental health days where we could take a day off from school to focus on ourselves and our mental health. I would also like to see girls being able to be excused from school without a penalty because we deal with menstrual issues that go unspoken. I also believe that we should change what math is taught, for instance a lot of the math we learn in schools doesn’t seem useful unless you want to go into the path of being an engineer or math professor or something along those lines, I would like to see real life math being taught, learning how to do taxes, how to budget, how to make out bills, how to save money and how to use math that will help us in life and not just having it being taught just because. I would also like to see more classes that involve different fields of study that’d be useful for college, like medical terminology class or other
