As a student of Edgerton, I feel that it is important that I voice my opinion of my school (especially if I can receive scholarship money for doing so). Edgerton is a very hit-or-miss school, sometimes it is a great facility, other times not so much. The school is very patterned in what it does. This leaves little room for students to explore personal interests and career paths. Readiness for college is really only an experience that students achieve if they end up in classes with the few good teachers employed at the school. A weight seems to hang in the hallways at all times, and "fun" doesn’t seem to be a concept in anything. I may be biased, but I have found that I and several other students learn best when we are given more opportunities to be creative and enjoy ourselves. I do not hate Edgerton for the routine that it stuffs down my throat, I just simply wish that there were more approaches to teaching than just sitting in a desk all day. It could be better if there was change.
The teachers at EHS really care about their students and strive to see them succeed. In addition we have an incredible guidance counselor. While we do have available CCP classes, I wish we had more AP classes to help us learn college material in person.
Edgerton has been the only school I have ever attended, and honestly I think that there is no other place I would rather have gone. Yes, it does have its shortcoming but it is still a very safe, very supportive community that wants nothing more than your own individual success.
