I would like to see things like mental health talked about more in East Longmeadow school systems. While I was in the East Longmeadow school system a boy in the grade above me passed away from an overdose. It was never once talked abut by administration. Everyone knew the boy and his family but there was never any grief or counseling offered to students unless they reached out first. I even think now with the COVID-19 virus happening there should be a way for students to talk about their feelings (especially seniors) regarding their prom, graduation, and sport nights getting canceled.

Overall, the schools are very good. Teachers in the elementary grades are wonderful. Most high school and middle scho teachers were great. College readiness is great if you’re child isn’t behind at all but if you struggle at all, there is very little help, especially for young ages. And if you struggle young, your time in high school will not be fun.

The age of the schools is where they fall short, the middle school was done in 2006 and the others have additions and some updates to them but the high school is in shambles. Leaking roof, and pieces of the ceiling falling on students while I was there.

Despite my personal experience, I would still love to have my child in this school system as there are many kids who excel and they are the majority. I attended every school (except Mountain View) beginning with kindergarten and graduating in 2014.
Quality of education and college preparedness is very good. Due to the age of the East Longmeadow Schools our facilities are horrible and we are way behind in technology. Kids are getting textbooks that are falling apart, if they get one at all. The high school is in the worst condition out of all of the EL Public Schools. Sports teams tend to be very political. You make a team based on your popularity and talent/performance is often overlooked. Working hard and putting in the effort to "earn" a spot on a team doesn't exist here. It is all about who you know and who your parents are friends with.
