East Haddam School District Reviews
The district has good teachers who do their best with limited resources. The downside is if you are a special-needs parent you are struggling to get your child the services that they should have. Often times the district is at odds with parents and does not do a very good job of communicating. It would be very helpful if the district were perceived as a more of a collaborative partner. The culture of the town/district is very non-inclusive...leaving special needs children out of many activities due to their disabilities. Parents are unable to leave work to be with there children at activities and/or cannot afford to hire someone to be at sponsored activities with their kids. One bright spot this year is that unified sports has finally been introduced and will start in 2019. Overall there is a lot of work to be done with the district to make it into the top 10.
East Haddam Hale-Ray High School is quaint and the students and faculty are easy to get along with. The "bullying" is very low because it is NOT tolerated on any level or measure!
It is an okay school but honestly can't wait to get out of the school system. The teachers are great and try their hardest to make everyone feel accepted. The academics are not great because they do not give you good resources to get into college and get ready for that environment until senior year.
