The Teachers are amazing and do care for the students they teach! Each and every year they ask students on how they can improve and what classes and/or extracurriculars they would like to see come into the school for years to come. The community is great, and I overall had a good experience there.

My experience with Douglas County School District was okay. Elementary school was alot of fun. I enjoyed my teachers and have fond memories of friends. Middle school was also okay. My band teacher was the best, Ms. Owens, she helped open my eyes to music. I played the flute for 8 years. I started in the fifth grade until my senior year. I also had the opportunity to learn steel drums while in middle school.
High school was okay. I joined the marching band my freshman year and continued all four years. I played the flute the first year, than had the opportunity to play the front ensemble by learning the mallet instruments. The teachers at Douglas High are a mix. Some i found to be really good and missed their class when it was done. Other teachers i was just happy to pass their class. Overall, i feel the school district does an pksy job. They have no tolerance for bullying and have set up a safe hotline.
Douglas High School is a very good school when it comes to educating students but they have a very poor way of having their students more involved with the school. The culture isn't one of teamwork but more of competition. The school offers hardly any extracurricular activities which are all almost exclusively run by teachers who volunteer their time in order to allow these extracurricular activities to take place. However, the education is very well done and many teachers are very dedicated to their work.
