I’m currently enrolled in Dodge City Community College (DC3), and so far it has been a great experience. Going into it right after graduating from DCHS was pretty scary as I thought I would be lost when it came to the campus, classes, and just in general the feeling of going to college. I’m glad to say that it wasn’t the case, for some time at least. The staff is wonderfully invested in the students, from Advisors to Financial Aid, they helped me get my head on straight to what I needed to do. The info was explained to me very well, even having a good plan as to what my career in college would look like and the paths that I could take with my major. Overall great Experience so far and if you’re in Kansas and maybe don’t have enough funds to go out state for college. DC3 is a great choice for the people and the establishment in general. Only downside would be that Campus isn’t necessarily too big, doesn’t bother me though but I could see if people expect a bigger area.
The system as a whole is very mediocre. Nothing important is taken seriously. There's little to do, and the students are treated poorly, and the teachers are as we.
I love how the district really focuses on college readiness. The students are able to choose from a plethora of classes that tie in with a potential career choice to see if that career is for them, and it lets the students know what they want t do before college without wasting money on classes that are for a career they they don't want to pursue anymore . USD 443 also lets the student choose what type of High school Diploma they want, depending on if a particular student goes to college or not. by doing this if student A does not want to attend college, they don't have to attend as many required classes as student B, who is planning on further education.
