Desert Sands Unified is an amazing district, consisting of IB schools, which I was able to attend elementary, middle and now High school level, our district scores are the best in the Coachella Valley, and in my opinion I think it’s due to the various school programs the diversity in academic learning, my teachers have been amazing part of my growth, so much so I joined my ASB student council middle school year and have given back to my community through volunteering. There have always been so many options with clubs to join , such as key club, Christian club, ASB, cheer, volunteering, culinary classes! So many those are just a few. I’ve found that I’ve always had options in each of my schools, and it helped me grow and find what I am really passionate about.
I first began my education at Desert Sands Unified School District when I was entering 2nd grade, now I am in 12th grade. I have been here for ten years and I believe that this particular district and educations resources have helped me shape into the type of student that I am today. As a student, I have been able to try different activities such as band, theater, dance, clubs, and sports. This district highlights students that not only excell in academics, but in sports or both. They like to reward students for great work which I think is very nice. In sports, this district is very competitive, but it shows our school spirit. At most of the schools, I have noticed the district always tries to host community events to bring together people from different areas of the Coachella Valley. I believe in the future, the district will show even stronger results for college readiness.
Throughout my schooling experience within the facilities I have attended in the Desert Sands District, I have been accompanied my many individuals and faculty members that have helped me progress within my academics, and have pushed me to go the extra mile. I have been within the Desert Sands District for 13 years. The schools offer many academic and extracurricular activities that allow students to prosper, but one flaw that each school has is the ability to involve every individual, I have seen many students that have appeared in school, but are practically nameless, due to the little response they give, but also the little response they recieve. The schools that I have attended are very well rounded, but lack sponsorship and compatibility with all students, and that is one thing that I have analyzed and recognized, which has allowed me to be a friendly face to anyone in need, so that they can prosper within the schools of Desert Sands Unified Schools District.
