I grew up in Derry all my life, and I can honestly say Derry Area School district is a great school. Our school has great education, staff, students and over all a friendly environment. At our school, you get the chance to attend a vo-tech school right down the road. Only a few chosen 9th graders got to start tech in 9th grade so I wish they’d change that since I started in 10th through 12th. Overall, Derry is a great community and even better school district. We even got voted best schools of 2021!
Derry will always hold a special place in my heart, as I grew up spending countless hours in and around the building. The teachers have always been great and have your best interest in mind 100% of the time. Sports lack a little bit if they aren't one of the biggest ones that the school has like football or wrestling. The food is not good at all and the students are not allowed to use the fitness center without a sport coach which I disagree with because I would like to be able to workout in my free time. But as much as those negatives seem bad, the school itself is good. The courses are not easy but manageable and you can find help in all corners of the building.
Solid educational experience & teaching staff. Wish the sports programs were more mature & better staff/funded. Also wish that the support available for students wanting to attend higher education after graduation, had more breadth and depth
