Overall, my experience was good at Ryan High School. I had some great teachers who truly cared about my education and my future education.
I think because of the recent tragedies at many high schools, the security needs to be improved. There should be metal detectors in every school. There also should be a dress code for all the students so we don’t have to worry about the baggy clothes or oversized trench coats or hoodies kids wear today.
After all, we are the future of America and we need to feel safe and secure in our public schools!

Denton Independent School district does a terrible job of preparing students for college due to their recent grading policy and assignment guidelines. Specifucally allowing students to continuously reassess assignments and fail to prepare for them the first time they are assigned. Students will not be allowed to complete assignments this way in college and should not be allowed. Denton Independdnt School District also values their income and paychecks to be more important than the safety, health, and wellness of their students. A major example of this is the attendance policy enacted by employees. One example of this is that students will not be excused from class for funerals held for family members who are not immediate. Who is to say these students should not be allowed to mourn the loss of a loved one? Safety and cleanliness of the schools are very very low and need to be improved.
DISD needs massive change. It is a school district that does not assist the average, college bound student. The only interest in assisting students that are college bound appears to be directed to the top 5% or bottom of the class. Anyone in between is left behind with little to no support from counselors to administration. Too much emphasis on STEM and vocational programs discards the middle class from pursing college degrees. Really disappointed and would recommend any family moving into the district thinking it provides good college prep to thing again. Further, the emphasis on football producing the only legitimate student athlete is ridiculous. Other sports, such as ice hockey are not even recognized.
