My experience as a student of the Denison Independent School District has been very positive. I started as a kindergartner and about to start my senior year next week. It has been a wonderful journey getting to know my strengths and weaknesses. I had little fear in learning more about my self with the caring teachers, administrators and staff at my school. They taught me how to embrace my strengths and compensate for my weaknesses. I enter this year with great excitement and confidence that I will be ready for graduation and the academic journey ahead!

Denison High is a huge high school right on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. The building itself was taken from many different schools and university designs. When you enter the building you have to know almost exactly where you are going because it is extremely easy to get turn around. Each wing looks identical to the other, except mirrior. This is why there was a day I, a fourteen year old female, walked into the boys bathroom.

The staff is about average. There are some teachers who will go above and beyond, but others who wish to see you fail. Normally the good outshines the bad. The administration staff is alright, although the shall get a bit rude and vexing from time to time. My education that I received from Denison High School, or DHS as most call it, is above average and I will say I gain from going to school there.
Denison ISD is a good school system for athletic children. Sports receive good funding and have almost new facilities to use now. Most teams get new uniforms every year, and the city and administration are very supportive of our athletes. There's also a wonderful theater program with great teachers. Our theater program is known around the area for being one of the best. The theater department also hosts One Act Play competitions every year. However, there isn't near enough support for the other fine arts like band and art. These classes are normally looked down upon and don't receive recognition often enough.
