My teachers and coaches have been like family. Extra help when I have needed it. Principal Mayfield has taken time to recognize my achievements in nontraditional sports like rodeo. Councilor Mrs. Brown has taken time to help me apply to colleges, and rearrange my class schedules, listen to me. My Athletic director Mrs. Henderson has big a huge help. All of my teachers have been willing to help. The coaches have always pushed me to improve. Love my GHS
They are very friendly, and do a good job of teaching students. They foster kindness and keep student safety in mind at all times. They incorporate technology in their programs.
I would like to see the culture and facilities changed. Clubs need to be more active. Old facilities need to be redone. Students need to be allowed to go on field trips and students with an A should not have to take finals.
I went to a tiny school in Dekalb County called Valley Head. I enjoyed my time at Valley Head and enjoyed the small community we had! Everyone knows everyone! My graduating class contained 41 people and we were all pretty close!
I loved that the teachers were so willing to help me understand the subject matter in their class; however, I did have a few teachers that didn't care and didn't go that extra step to help me understand fully what they were trying to 'teach' me.
Overall, Dekalb County School System is a great place to attend school. I like the small school atmosphere. I would like to see improvements in the area of technology with more up-to-date devices and course offerings.
