Decorah pushes you to try anything and everything. This can be really great way to get students involved in something they are passionate about, but it can also lead to students spreading themselves too thin. When you are told to be a 4.0 student and a varsity athlete and an all-state musician you can begin to feel not good enough at everything rather than finding a passion in that one thing you are most connected to. That being said, if you are motivated by pressure this is the place to be! A teacher/coach/director is always trying to get you to improve yourself. The atmosphere is intense, but it can pay off in the end.

Decorah High School is very good to get a well-rounded education. The teachers are always there to help students when needed. The school provides multiple different courses for students to understand their interests. The course a student wants to take is most likely offered, whether online or in a classrom.
The academics that are offered in the Decorah Community School district is incredible. I would not change anything about the academic side of the school, because there are a variety of classes so anyone can find their niche. There are also many courses offered that will challenge students who are looking to prepare themselves for the next level of schooling. One of the downsides of Decorah is that there is a lot of parent involvement in all of the sporting activities. It really puts a damper on what athletics should be about during your high school career.
