There are at least 3 "experienced" teachers who should not be teaching, but they are because of their years of "service." These teachers specifically seem to hate their job and hate working with kids. Most administrators would never know that the teacher hates their job or working with children because they know how to work the system. Meaning, during observations, they appear to be happy, caring and friendly, but it's a facade. A % of observations should be based on anonymous student surveys. Walking into the classroom with a "clipboard" and rating the teacher as proficient based on a 20 minute observation is 100% ineffective. I want my child to learn successfully. Impossible without a caring environment. Kids can sense if the teacher is genuine. Some (maybe more) of your teachers and staff do not meet this crucial prerequisite. (I have much more to say, but I can only type 1000 characters). My plea to Daleville is to work on your culture of genuine caring towards all students.
I like the welcoming and kind staff and administration. It's a small, humble warm community and school system, makes it ver y easy to be familiar with people and get to know people. One thing I would change is the qualifications to be a substitute teacher here, sometimes we get some weird subs or subs that aren't "all the way there."
I had been apart of Daleville Community Schools for the entirety of my elementary and high school careers. It is an amazing place to grow up, and has very kind people as well as a good education for a small school. The culture transformed while I was there, and it was great to see students, coaches and teachers strive to be better.
