If you have a special needs child - this is NOT the district for you.
After many years of dealing with them, I can attest to the fact that they provide only what they deem appropriate. If you are educated enough to realize that you can ask for more, they will fight you tooth and nail, to avoid doing so, due to the costs involved.
I have had to utilize education advocates, mental health professionals, and education lawyers - most of which were to no avail. The few instances CR did what they were supposed to were due to liability issues. In other words, I had them over a barrel and that is the reason they decided to do the 'right thing'.
That said, I have another child with no issues, no IEP and his education went smoothly.
Morale of the story - if you are deciding to send your child to this school district and you child has special needs and an IEP - run, don't walk, and take your school tax dollars elsewhere!

Council Rock Council Rock School North is a very good high school. The school curriculum offers tons of rigorous courses such as AP, Honors, Accelerated and Academic. These courses undoubtedly challenge most students, but CR curriculum still pales in comparison compared to other schools in NY or California. The teachers are fine, usually the best are the Social Studies/English type teachers, the math teachers are often severely lacking in both knowledge and organization. The school has many great organizations such as the Marching Band, NHS, and any sort of team sport. While this school is highly regarded throughout the nation, there are the obvious problems such as drug use, and often alcohol. So make sure to be friends with the right people.
Council Rock is a great school district - with excellent high schools. CRN has great teachers, many clubs and lots of opportunities to get involved. I’m very fortunate to be in the honors/AP track so it feels like I’m getting a private school education in a public school setting - perfect mix!
