Real estate agents will boast about CRSD being an award winning school district, but it is not. Multiple teachers have been arrested for inappropriate conduct with students. There have been several different superintendents in the last 4-5 years. Teachers are only here for the high salary. CRSD used to rank high about 10 years ago, but the district keeps slipping down the scale. It is very unfortunate.
The majority of the teachers here are smart, but they are only here for the check. The classes they offer are not varied, and many of the classes only teach people who are White. They offer no African, Asian, or Indigenous history. The mascot is of a Native American. The community is racist and homophobic. It made me uncomfortable to go to school here, and I hope you don't make the wrong decision for you or your child.
The academics are pretty good, and Council Rock has a reputation among state colleges as being challenging and demanding. Most AP courses are offered between the two high schools.
The teachers at Council Rock are a hit or a miss. As a student, I encountered several facility members that played an active role in my education and my future. However, any student/parent is sure to encounter as many unmotivated and passionless teachers in the district.
In addition, there is a severe lack of clubs and activities between the two high schools. Besides the ever-shrinking music and arts department and the standard honor societies, interesting and fun after-school activities are extremely hard to come by. As a student, I was disappointed by the general lack of creativity from facility and students. This may also be a statement on the great lack of diversity on campus.
Overall, I enjoyed my years at Council Rock, but obviously there are areas of improvement.
