Being in the IB and GT Program, I feel that my personal experiences with CCISD may be biased and immensely different from what I've seen and heard from others. Seeing as how there's only 1 IB program within the school district, along with those in IB and GT being held to an immensely higher standard than the other students of the city, thereby limiting the social interactions with those whom are outside of said program. Despite this, I still feel that my experience was one that I won't ever forget, from unforgettable teachers, to classroom debates and everything in between.
It’s pretty alright, nothing too out of the ordinary minus the occasional teacher that expects the students to have zero life outside of school but that was only two of my teachers the rest were very understanding if you communicated with them well. I will say that the school(s) have a bad habit of punishing the entirety of the student population for the actions of like 10 kids and they like to repeat things in repetition a lot and treat us like we’re stupid. Those things being like don’t skip class, don’t vandalize the bathroom, don’t Vape. And like I get it but just telling them not to isn’t gonna make people not do it since they already don’t care. But over all the staff is alright but they need to stop being control freaks sometimes.
Throughout my time in CCISD, I would say that it was a particularly generic school district. I was a part of the IB program which meant I had to go to schools that were not closest to my house and thus had to rely on the CCISD school bus system to get to and from school, this was where my main gripe was with the district, few buses which became crowded and dropped students off at locations that were still a 10-15 minute walk to their homes. Overall my in-school experience was nothing special, I do feel like I got an advanced education that prepared me for college with the IB program.
