The special education team at South Meadow Middle School is amazing! They work so hard to accommodate my son's needs while still ensuring he feels included. They go above and beyond to encourage him and their communication is excellent. We communicate daily about his school day and they are actively interested in what he's up to outside of school. We relocated to this school district at the beginning of middle school and the staff ensured that it went as smoothly as possible. We had zero regression (behavioral or academic). It was largely due to their hard work and communication.
I think the Contoocook Valley school district tries hard for our students that fall short on staffing in treating their staff fairly. There are many opportunities at the high school for students to earn college credits, which is amazing. The elementary schools are nice and small and give you that homemade feeling and kids seem to do well advancing. The district needs to consider changing up some of their policies, such as allowing students to be changing names constantly, and allowing certain things to happen in the school that wear should not be allowed. The behavior system also needs work.
I've been in the ConVal district for my entire schooling career. The small-town vibe allows for close friends and a relatively tight-knit class. The teachers are good at making students feel welcome, and the success rates are relatively high. Something the district can fix is the way they spends their money. My mom has been in many leadership organizations run by the schools since elementary, and there has been issues. Many people disagree on the way money is spent, and mental health/climate change had to be accommodated recently thanks to student run organizations. However, I have learned so much in my years of schooling here and have made lifelong connections with my peers, teachers, and the community. It is very easy to get involved, and the environment is positive and safe. Overall, a very good public school district.
