The teachers, technology, buildings, and environment is top notch. Our school district is always on the cusp of technology and best practices. We have been using tablets and chrome books 1 to 1 for atleast 3 Years. In addition, our science and social studies curriculums include stem projects and other interactive activities. What is more, students are offered year long Spanish and Chinese starting in 8th grade. Our high school offers blended classes to prepare us for college and AP classes so we can get a head start.

158 is perfect for students who fit into the box. Any students who are a challenge emotionally, developmentally, or academically are either ignored, encoraged to take alternate schooling (home school or on line learning) or targeted for removal. Many students have resorted to home education due to excessive bullying by fellow students, administrators, or security personel. Classes are overcrowded, it is hard to get required classes, and individuality is frowned upon. It is college prep only. There are no skill training courses available. Millions have been spent on a new football field, but text books are unavailable. Teachers who quit midyear are not replaced, leaving students without a scheduled class. Focus is on conformity and punishment rather than development. Many students are suicidal or exhibit school refusal due to the excessive stress of overcrowding and unrealistic expectations.
District 158 has given me so many opportunities to have many programs that allow me to be treated as a college student. I am treated as an individual and I can speak my mind. The blended program at Huntley high school gave me freedom that improved my work ethic. The only thing I would change is class starting later. I want to thank all my teachers at Huntley high school for inspiring me to major in biomedical engineering.
