Community High School District No. 99 Reviews
At first I didn't really no anyone, but after a while I became very close to people which I think is the best part of this school! I think that we need more change or help in the science department because as a student I felt like was previously lost with what I was being taught. Going in for help did improve how I learned each part of the science subject, but I feel like I was not fully prepared.
My name is Jacqueline Alcantara and I am current Junior attending Downers Grove South High School. Community High School District 99 consists of my high school as well as Downers Grove North High School. I am very satisfied and content with my experience in this district so far as it offers me tremendous opportunities whether it's for classes, sports, or clubs. In fact, both North and South High School are award-winning high schools. I strongly feel that our mentors and staff, on behalf of my experience attending South, are highly respectful to all students of different backgrounds. To me, this is a highly important characteristic that all schools should also have because it allows for students to not only be respectful to others but also responsible and engaged in school.
This is my fourth year attending Downers North and I have to say I am very privileged to be graduating from this school. Our access to technology and materials is outstanding; from each individual having a Chromebook, to multiple AP and Honors courses offered for each subject, us as students really do have the means to succeed. The teachers push us to exceed expectations and care for us as individuals and students, ultimately creating and environment where students can thrive. I do wish our school would have a more diverse population, we are a predominantly white town and school, which may lead us into a lack of cultural awareness.
