Downers Grove North High School is an all-around decent school regarding academics, activities, and faculty. In order to have a valuable experience here, you must be willing to put in the effort to participate in the school community. That being said, it is not difficult to join the numerous amount of clubs, fine art programs, and athletics that are offered. There are also many elective subjects to choose from, especially as an upper-classman, as well as plenty of AP courses if you're up for the challenge. Academics is arguably the highlight of what North has to offer. Teachers and faculty members try their best to engage and assist students. The school itself is well kept and closely monitored by security. The student body generally consists of respectable kids, yet, it can still be cliquish at times. Overall, North offers everything that you would want out of a public high school located in a middle to upper-class suburb.

At first I didn't really no anyone, but after a while I became very close to people which I think is the best part of this school! I think that we need more change or help in the science department because as a student I felt like was previously lost with what I was being taught. Going in for help did improve how I learned each part of the science subject, but I feel like I was not fully prepared.
My name is Jacqueline Alcantara and I am current Junior attending Downers Grove South High School. Community High School District 99 consists of my high school as well as Downers Grove North High School. I am very satisfied and content with my experience in this district so far as it offers me tremendous opportunities whether it's for classes, sports, or clubs. In fact, both North and South High School are award-winning high schools. I strongly feel that our mentors and staff, on behalf of my experience attending South, are highly respectful to all students of different backgrounds. To me, this is a highly important characteristic that all schools should also have because it allows for students to not only be respectful to others but also responsible and engaged in school.
