Being a senior, I have loved my experience at LCHS. It provides a great, safe environment for students to be able to come in every day and learn. The staff are incredibly friendly and I have never had a problem with any of them. As for how it goes for student life, the population isn't very large but there are very few problems that ever arise between students. The school provides a learning environment suitable for anyone's needs, no student are left out or are forced to struggle in an over extensive class for them. In addition to a great environment, Lakes also has excellent extracurricular activity. From sports to clubs, there's something for everyone. I am proud to be a Lakes Eagle and have enjoyed my years at the school.
My overall favorite memories with Lakes was the amazing connections I made with some of my teachers. Some specific teachers actually cared about the students day, made sure they understood the content, and helped them succeed in the class. I made lifelong friendships with a few of my teachers and will forever appreciate that. From having lunch with them, to receiving the best life advice, I am so thankful. Some teachers didn't only teach the course, but things you need to know in the real world. Additionally, I think that the school is very diverse and has lots of class choices and opportunities to all students. For instance, there is a law class, preschool class, and even a women in literature course. I understand that every school is going to have bad teachers, but in my four years of math, I didn't have one good math teacher. Also, my counselor was no help and would force me to take classes. Overall, it is a great school and I am happy that I spent four amazing years there.
I personally like D. 117. If there is an issue they are very quick to handle it. We have a very safe environment and I always feel very comfortable there. The staff/teachers are always very friendly and I have never seen a issue before. Teachers are always ready to help you if needed. One complaint I have is about college and courses. I always feel very pressured when picking classes. They always want you to be in AP or honors classes, even when you know that is not the best fit for you. Lakes has always been a top academic school but that is because they push their kids too hard. They typically only care about their overall numbers not what the individual would like. This is my senior year and I feel that we were not well prepared for the college application process. They talked one day about it and usually are very hard to get a meeting with your Counselour.
