Overall, Commack Union Free School District is a great school when it comes to helping with college applications and preparing students for the life of college. The IB Program is heavily enforced to help students prepare for college. One of the primary issues I have with the Commack UFSD is its lack of investment in the technology department. As a member of National Technical Honor Society and a student who endeavors to become a mechanical engineer, technology is a large part of my life, academically and socially. After reflecting on my high school career, I feel that a more fully developed technology department would have helped me figure out my goals and engage myself more in my schools technical department.

During my academic career at Commack High School, I felt very involved in student activities. There are a variety of clubs and sports to join as well as honor societies. Through these activities, I've created a variety of new friendships as well as connections with teachers, coaches, and other staff. The academic workload can be very rigorous depending on the path one may take. Commack High School offers the IB diploma as well as IB courses without the diploma. I personally have taken the IB diploma and can say that the course load can be challenging at times. However, the IB diploma allowed me to take challenging classes in order to prepare me for a college setting. For those not taking the IB diploma, there are other options such as AP classes as well as regents level courses.
Commack Union Free School District is outstanding and exceptionally supportive in preparing their students for college and there future aspirations. Counselors encourage parents and students to be involved and discuss how to to guide the student in the right direction when choosing a successful avenue after high school . A gentle inquiry is conducted to get a more personal feel of where their strengths and weaknesses will aid in future careers. With careful consideration of the student, the counselor helps in accurate guidance towards a beneficial path to follow. The guidance resources are undeniably advantageous in an especially difficult decision.
