Cold Spring Harbor Central School District Reviews
Cold Spring Harbor is a very good school district. The staff is excellent. The majority of the teachers at all levels of education are informative and empathetic. The variety of clubs and activities is decent for a fairly small district. The atmosphere is welcoming and most students are quite courteous. Even though there is a lack of diversity, relatively little prejudice and bigotry exists. The district prepares students well for college and further education, although students' workloads often become overwhelming and stressful. The emphasis on athletics sometimes overshadows other, much smaller programs, such as art and music. Overall, my experience in the district has been enjoyable.
Small close knit community. Teachers always available for extra help wanting students to achieve the best grades possible. The music department is off the charts. Students are v encouraged to continue in the arts/music throughout their entire high school career resulting in many students receiving the All-State and All-County status as musicians and singers.
In my opinion, Cold Spring Harbor Junior High/Senior High School provided an excellent learning setting to prepare its students for their individual academic futures. The small size of the school helps to provide a comfortable environment in the way that all teachers were known personally and easily accessible for any questions or for any extra help. The school stresses a strong importance for academics and athletics. The clubs and extra-curricular activities provide opportunities for the students to contribute to their community. For example, there is a club called Outreach where upperclassmen tutor underclassmen to receive community service hours. This provides a free alternative to hiring a tutor and a one-on-one tutor session with students who have excelled in classes that you may be having trouble with. Overall, this school focuses on the individual successes of its students to help them excel in whichever field they wish to progress in.
