I have been at Cocke County High School for a year and a half. I love the warm, friendly atmosphere here. We have teachers who truly care about our students. Our teachers want to see our students succeed. I think the caring rate as a teacher to student is very high; I think our education system is not the best however. We have a lot of wasted time in our core classes. I would like to see students be engaged, and motivated to learn rater than dreading it. There are seven different learning styles. Instead of the typical paper and pencil sit down study style for every assignment; we can offer this learning style once a week. This learning style is the solitary style. We can offer visual learning. An example, when teaching a geography lesson we can show pictures of what the teacher is explaining. And so on. Not everyone learns in the same way, so we should incorporate all the different learning styles in our school system. There will be no excuse now to fail a class.
Cocke County is a good school located in Newport, Tn. Cocke County is in a lower economic county but most of the teachers are very involved with helping students stay on track to graduate and also encourage students to seek higher education after graduation. Cocke County does not have a lot of extra resources so the facilities could be updated.
Some teachers really care about how much their students learn but others really do not care. I think the district should work hiring more caring teachers
