I attended the Coalinga-Huron Joint Unified School District for all almost 10 years and I have a lot of good things to say. The teachers have always been extremely supportive and understanding. Once I entered high school, the school provided me with my own MacBook! Wow! The resources we are offered is outstanding. My school has almost every sport provided as well as a lot of academic classes. We currently have 10 AP classes which I’ve taken 5 of them! Because I'm a senior, my counselor is really helping me make sure I'm on track and ready for college which is what I'm thankful for.

It is a very diverse school; however, very many gang affiliations have not been controlled. Teachers are often very under the loop with grades and activities. Teachers often take all semester to input grades and then give students no chance to raise their grades. College readiness is very important for counselors at CHS. Counselors often come in and try to expand the knowledge of students about college. I believe classes should be separated in work ethic, as many students who actually want to learn are often placed in classes with students that have no care in the world about school. Parent involvement with the second school, Huron is not very big.
My experience with this district is neutral. I have nothing against them but sometimes I believe they are unfair when it comes to money. For example, I come from a small town named Huron and there were rumors about a high school being built here in this town. However, the district , alongside with both communities continued to dispute about whether to actually built one or not. In my opinion, building a high school in this small, poverty, Hispanic town would have been amazing for the students since they wouldn't have to wake up at 6 in the morning to catch a bus at 7 and get to school 15 minutes before 8 to later be dismissed at 3:10pm and arrive home an hour later. Though, money wise would have been a big issue because with little money, not sports or clubs would be able to be funded at both schools. Overall, it's nice being able to connect with people outside of this small town.
