Clarkstown Central School District Reviews
I go to Clarkstown North High School and went to Felix Festa Middle School, and I have to say, the academics here are GREAT! The level of college readiness at North is definitely up there. The classes are mostly rigorous and the environment consists of healthy competitions. Students at North are some of the smartest students you'll ever meet. At North, there are so many different college courses offered, such as APs, IBs, SUPAs, U at Albany courses, and RCC courses.
I am currently a senior (12th grade) in the Clarkstown Central School District. I have been pleased with my education through the past 12 years, and have enjoyed it very much. Over these past 12 years, so many opportunities have opened up for me and I cannot thank them enough for that. However, there are a few things I would love to see change for future generations here at Clarkstown. The most important being the work load. Specially homework. There have been nights where I don’t have any homework at all, and nights where I stay up until 1 a.m. trying to complete assignments. I would like to see more consistency amongst teachers when assigning homework and projects etc. My time at Clarkstown (especially the high school years) would have gone a lot more smoothly if I had a consistent work load every day.
The academics are prestige, they offer a wide variety of courses with many APs. The faculty is great, very kind and always available to help. The con, however, is the facilities. They are quite unsanitary and although this isn't a major problem, having a school with a cockroach infestation is not exactly the ideal school to be in. As a senior, I've seen a few cockroaches at my time at North, it did not change the way I pursued my academics.
