The culture at this school district is very welcoming as the majority of faculty and staff are very passionate and supportive to students like me. We are provided with various opportunities that many other surrounding districts do not have the privilege to, along with extra resources such as dual language immersion for non-native speakers. The students are also more open to connecting with others as school standards are taught frequently and embedded into our everyday lives. One standard my high school stands by is being a "student athlete". My administration and teachers stress the importance of academics as a solid foundation for college. Families are also very open with participation including school wide activities, fundraisers, and various other events. I have transfered from another district and I have been more than happy to be around such great people who welcomes everyone with open arms.
Our district has been mostly positive, especially our quality of teachers, especially in the elementary level. My kids had the best experience at Wickman Elementary. Townsend Jr. High and Chino Hills High School have been great as well, but Wickman still stands out overall. I would like to see more updates to our sports facilities at Chino Hills High School on a yearly review basis rather than wait until things have fallen apart and then get the issue tended to. My boys play football and baseball and I feel like our school is too nice to not have great facilities, especially baseball. Field maintenance and overall facility up keep should be much better than they are.
As an immigrant from Madrid, Spain I had a huge transition in a school environment as I began school in Chino. The environment was different but lovely because they treated me with endless love and endless gratitude. Teachers, staff members, and superintendents are truly seeking the best for you and want you to be the best, therefore, they will push you because they know that you can achieve it. At Chino Valley Unified School District, our motto is "one school, one family" because we all seek out the best for each other and how to move forward as a whole, not just you individually. I never feel discouraged or feel embarrassed because my school district makes me feel welcomed and accepted, you are important and you matter there.
