Chehalis School District Reviews

The first thing to note about my high school is that we are a s.t.e.m lighthouse school in a neglected part of western Washington that receives little attention. However, our school has created a culture of college readiness and preparedness for life after high school, whatever that track may be. Coming from a community where families struggle, and many people leave the area to start new lives, or attend college, our administrators prepare us for the realities of life and how to give us the best opportunity.
There were countless stories of student success that came from our high school, all thanks to the opportunities provided to us from an amazing teaching staff, and a community that truly banded together to create opportunity for their future generations.

I've been in the Chehalis School District since kindergarten. All throughout school here I have struggled with bullies and I have witnessed others being bullied as well. That is something I strongly dislike about this district. There is not a lot of staff and students that are willing to stand up against bullying which is unfortunate. Though bulling is a problem, I would say the security for the district is good. We have an officer that drives throughout the district and spends time at each school to make sure everyone is safe and doing well. We have a great STEM program which is know all throughout the state. We also have some of the best sports teams in the state. Another area I would like to see change, however, is the arts. The school has taken away art, pottery, and other programs that allow students to express themselves. Without the art a lot of student feel disconnected from themselves.
My experience with the Chehalis School District has been amazing. In my time in the district we have built up our science department and built a new STEM Wing at our high school. The district has also been given many large donations from community members to help fund our programs. Five years ago we were also gifted with a Scanning Electron Microscope, which is a piece of equipment that most colleges don't even have. We are also in the process of building two new elementary schools. The teachers I have had were all invested in my learning and I have always felt comfortable with asking for help. The district demonstrates powerful teaching and learning in almost every class. The district also pushes college and career readiness. Each year many of the schools in the district send students on college tours as well. I have been given many opportunities in the Chehalis School District in my almost 13 years there and I am very grateful for all of these opportunities.
