I went to Checotah Public Schools, for seven years. At first, it was pretty enjoyable and I felt like I was learning but as I got older, it didn't seem like the teachers cared about teaching; some would even sleep when they should have been teaching. The best teachers I learned from at Checotah, were Mrs. Green, Mrs. Lane, Mrs. Presley, Mrs. Petsch, Mrs. Burnett, Mrs.Mitchell, Mrs.Hamilton, and Mrs.Hutcherson. I will say I made many friends there and that the lunch was decent. But the academic challenge was lacking. Also, many coaches were hired to teach courses that I don't feel they were qualified to teach. The coaches weren't all that great at coaching either. If I'm being honest here and I am, I'd say that the teachers worked with students based on a system of favoritism. If you did not meet their social class standards, then you were treated unfairly.
I've gone to Checotah Public Schools since I began my education. When I entered elementary school, there were teachers there who recognized my potential, aided in developing my strong points, and in the long run, inspired me to pursue writing. However, as I progressed through middle school, junior high, and high school, learning became less centered on the student and more about grade point average. There was little to no interest in aiding students who struggled in their classes and rarely did we ever open a book or partake in hands on learning for students who probably needed it.
I liked how the teachers really get connected with students and how they are always ready to help. The band program has excellent teachers but they are having to fork out money out of their own pocket so more appreciation of this program would be nice since they bring in the most recognition for our school
