This is a dreadful school district ruled by petty politics and a union with too much authority. The school board has been decades of recycling the same dreadful choices again and again.

The substandard education provided is compounded by parents who are themselves typically not well educated and in many cases uncaring of the quality of the education their child receives here.

The people of this district are in for a rude awakening if government aid tot he district ever dries up. Most residents already cannot afford the heavily subsidized taxes.

Further, the community is also plagued by significant gang violence.

Unfortunately, most residents are being snowed by a school district more focused on making up bogus reasons to celebrate rather than actually getting all the students achieving.

If you don't plan on being the primary educator of your child, don't come here.

Great school with great teachers! Such a diverse school. It is stereotyped as being a horrible school, but honestly it was the best experience in that school.
What I liked about Central Islip Union Free School District is the amount of diversity in everyone. How everyone is uniquely different in their attitudes, ways of thinking, learning abilities, and career choices. The school is filled with teachers that always push you to do your best in everything you put your mind too.And they are always their to help you in whatever you need. But the school has problems too. Which include and having be in a building with poor heaters so during the winter all students are freezing in classes, the school is always poor in having good clean up service students sometimes end up seeing rats running around their classes, and lastly the school lacks on giving school a safe environment to learn in , we have students doing drugs in school and selling. I do love the my high school even with all its perks I can never say none of my teachers ever failed me.
