Although it is rural, there is still a push for technological courses and useful career certifications before graduation. Teachers and staff are friendly and interconnected with the community. Safety is a huge focus. On campus police are present during the day and doors stay locked. Overall a solid school, however I wish there were more AP and advanced courses.
This school is absolutely horrible. The staff is ignorant, rude, and only cares about select students that are either their own children or varsity athletes. It's very obvious that they only care about the athletic and FFA programs. Half of the staff is barely even qualified to teach. The math teachers don't have teaching degrees and they hired a physics teacher that had never even studied physics or taught any grade higher than kindergarten special ed classes. Most of the teaching staff attempts to push religion on us. If students are different from the norm in any way then they try to punish us for it in any way that they can think of.
Forced pledge. Administrative staff, especially elementary vp Jason Soule constantly pushing his religion on children. Talking about god on loud speaker. Same person using physical excersize as punishment. He is garbage and needs to be fired. Teachers playing worship music in class. They banned parents from walking kids Into class in k thru 4. Total garbage school. A few of the teachers are really good and that's it.
I like the diversity of the school system. I would like to see more sports, such as football and volleyball. It would be nice if there was more interaction between teachers and students. I like that the school offers Pre-AP and AP options for classes and the opportunity to take college classes in high school. I would like to see teachers following up more on students that are either struggling or falling behind in class. We as a school need to show more school spirit, by pep rallies, getting the students more excited for games and events and posting even small activities around school.
Going to Central Independent School District in Pollok for the entirety of my life was quite the memorable experience. Every year I would find that the teachers and staff would always go out of their way to help the students in any way that they could to find a solution. Though one of the best qualities of the school has to be the college readiness course. This course, which most students will take for granted at first, makes sure that juniors and seniors are ready for the coming years. From my personal experience, without this course I would have been forced to pay college tuition out of pocket due to not being prepared. The one thing that I would like changed about Central is that I would like the Health courses to gain more funding like the Agriculture classes. But then again, Central is located at the heart of East Texas, so this may be a little too much to ask for.
Central is an Ag based school; if you are looking for a small and good district I would highly recommend. The sports here are really good, with the coaches given kids opportunities.
I personally enjoy central just because I love the running program. The Cross-country and Track program are what I enjoy from attending central.
