I am a recent graduate of Central Columbia School District and having gone there all the way from Pre-k through 12, I have to commend the teachers and staff on being extremely dedicated to the community of the school. The way they arrange their curriculum (of the high school) is broken down into Career Pathways in order to prep students for their future career by helping them funnel down their interests. These pathways include Agri-Science, Science, and Health; Arts and Communication; Business, Finance, Marketing, and Information Technology; Engineering, Manufacturing, and Industrial Technologies; and Human Services. To elaborate on these pathways, there were "personalized" courses called electives under each pathway that taught specialized content relevant to each branch. I believe this way of arranging high school curriculum is so important because students need encouragement and preparation for further education after high school to successfully contribute to society.
Here at Central, we have a pathway program, that allows students to find out which field of interest works and fits them best. Each student is different, and the staff and counselors here at Centreal really help you find your purpose! As a HS Senior, I would stand by this school with confidence. The teachers also, care greatly about their students. Central has allowed me to find where I want to go to college, and also what field of interest I will be studying.
I love Central Columbia’s pathway system! They have five options of pathways, and it covers lots of career fields. It really prepares you for college by getting to choose classes you like on topics that are interesting.
