Carthage Central School District Reviews
I loved my experience at Carthage Central High school, the teachers were very welcoming, thorough with their lessons and friendly overall. Carthage also offered many school club activities so everyone felt as though they belonged (French club, Dance club, Step club, etc) Overall I would like to see some diversity within the school, as well as more efficient technology. Carthage is an amazing school yet the demographics are less than inclusive when it comes to culture. Besides that, the school really deserves more technologically advanced equipment because they have dedicated staff and teachers who’ve been with them for 20+ years and you can’t find that everywhere. I loved Carthage, the people, and the entire learning experience overall.
Attended since Kindergarten, graduated in 2020. Academics are average, gave a basic to just below average amount of knowledge. The diversity aspect is mostly Caucasian and African american, very few Spanish and Asian descent. Most teachers are good, very few actually care about the education, others go through the motions, they also talk about students while their own friends are in front of them. College readiness is average. Clubs is one the better aspects, don't have all the activities of a HS but it is normal. Safety, 3 safety threats through 4 years of HS. Sports were relatively okay, are currently going down. Food is below average, only 2-3 good meals. Facilities are as good as they can make it, the custodians are the nicest people ever. Science dept. is immaculate, math is also good, I didn't favor the teachers. The Admin. is very biased, period.
When you find the right people who share your values, it's really a great experience! I enjoyed many of the clubs offered at this school, such as Sustainability Corps, Spanish Club, Key Club, Math League, Science Olympiad, Art Club and many more! I also enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities such as working with the Drama Department's Set Crew on the school plays and musicals. The sports programs are also very inclusive and while school spirit can be lacking at times, when you are on a team, your teammates begin to feel like your second family. When you get involved, you can really make it a great experience!
