I think the school is pretty great for the most part. The facilities are maintained, school food is about average and the programs and courses at the school are very good. However, diversity, safety, and racial equality lean toward the negative side in terms of the declining safety standards from the Covid epidemic, and the ever surmounting problem of racism and equality towards students/individuals at this school. While this may be the case, I've thought this school has been a great place for me to grow and educate myself through various fundamental courses and culture!
So hello as a student in Carroll middle school I love the school. But the teachers are not signing you up for the future one of the teachers even told me I couldn't be what I wanted to be in the future, quote "because you need to know SIMPLE math" The food is never the best in the world but always you have junk food and chips than them saying you get "real" food, they put the junk food in the middle to show to everyone what type of bad food you can have! Sometimes I see kids buy about 3 ice cream bars and really 2 bags of chips.
The Carroll Independent School District makes a great attempt at unifying the people of Southlake with its mascot, the dragon. The dragon is meant to exemplify a "tradition" of excellence, which is shown with the quantity and variety of achievements awarded to students of Southlake compared to other cities. This excellence, however, makes Southlake become ignorant to the rising issues within the district. The worst problem in Southlake is the amount of pressure that the students feel they have to succeed. The students here take away from their childhood because of the constant reminder to "protect the tradition." They begin to feel that without achievements, they don't show excellence, and are therefore worthless. Although it is good to make sure people understand that hard work pays off, and it is good to promote a culture supporting people following their passions, CISD needs to put more efforts into making sure students do not waste what should be the least stressful years of life.
