Recently, there is a pride flag ban in the countys public schools which was a huge step back in time. The reasoning was that they were political, and although we had a petition with over 5000 signatures, we raised money did T-shirts fundraisers everything nothing could be done to have it stopped. Unfortunately, because of this, there is a lot less open diversity and support in the school system.
Loved the music and theater arts! Offered many opportunities to compete in regional, state and national music and theater events! Theater students support each other across schools even though competing against each other.
The school system is amazing. It has great teachers, classes, students, campuses, buildings, and extracurricular. My favorite thing about the school system is the Carroll County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC). I attended CCCTC for one semester during my senior year and, despite Covid-19, the experience was wonderful. The teachers there are great and really know what they are talking about. Being able to gain a hand-on experience in a specific field to prepare you for a possible career is an invaluable opportunity.
