I believe that Carmel Clay Schools does a great job of providing many opportunities for students for their future. There are so many specialized classes that provide specific learning experiences that cater towards student's wants and needs. It gives a good jumpstart to college and career life, and offers great education with amazing teachers. I think with as many students that are in the district, especially with Carmel High School being one of the largest public schools, the teachers do a great job in connecting with the students.
Overall, I feel like CCS does a great job preparing students for college as they provide access to a variety of advanced classes. Teachers can also be super helpful when not only seeking help in a class but providing access to public resources. CCS has also begun to increase mental health advocation in recent years. This spans from required mental health videos, encouraging the use of Stop-It, all the way too mental health (and safety) posters in the restrooms. However, CCS lacks teaching students study skills. Never had I been taught how to properly take notes or study tips. I have seen many students struggle from this, they can study for hours but due to improper study skills, still not retain the information.
I am an alum of Carmel Clay Schools as a member of the class of 2020. I attended CCS for all of my k-12 years including pre-k through the Early Childhood program. I attended Cherry Tree Elementary, Carmel Middle School, and Carmel High School.
CCS was a fantastic experience as a student and sets its students up for success beyond graduation. Between academics and other programs, the school has abundant opportunities that help maximize students' skills that put them ahead of the curve. The teachers, counselors, and staff are all so personable. I am grateful for my time at Carmel and recommend it to all those looking for a good public school system for their children.
