My experience with the Capistrano Unified School system was remarkable. I've been going to this district since I was a child. I had both wonderful and horrible situations. First and foremost, the school provides numerous possibilities for advancement, such as after-school tutoring and teachers who are continuously striving to assist wonderful outcomes for all students. I had one teacher in particular who was constantly on top of things by encouraging students in turning in their zeros. I recall a day when she even went out of her way to print our students' zeros to urge them to finish their work. I was quite amazed by how much the teachers at the Capistrano Unified School District care about their student's success, especially in high school. Personally, the core challenge I have encountered was academics. Striving for that A in a class may be difficult, but I always saw it as a challenge to help you prepare for the real world and college life after high school.
The school facilities are completely run down and need improvement. The majority of the classrooms are over 50 years old and dilapidated. My daughters have also seen cockroaches at the school site on multiple occasions, particularly in the restrooms. In addition, the school itself has closed down the majority of bathrooms because the students continuously vape in the stalls and cause damage to the stalls, sinks, toilets, and walls.
On the flip side, the school does have a "One Town One Team" culture, with very devoted alumni who attend the events and games. Also, my daughters have had the opportunity to take a number of AP/IB/Honors classes that have been taught by very good teachers. This has allowed my older daughter to earn all 5s on her AP exams, which is helpful when trying to get into college. Also, the activities at the school are over the top, including homecoming, which seems to be a week-long event.

In Capistrano Unified School District especially in my past few years in high school, I have had several opportunities to explore my interests for college through in-school classes, through my counselors, and through outside of school potential opportunities provided for several fields to be further explored after high school. The administration is very organized and responsive to needs for change or alteration, and I am very satisfied with my time here! Teachers in all subject areas are extremely educated and qualified, excited to assist even after class in any aspect.
