Capistrano Unified School District Reviews
Capistrano Unified provided me with amazing opportunities for growth in both my academics and music. I was able to participate in both band and orchestra. We performed in concerts at Segerstrom Center! Academically speaking, the curriculum was challenging and required me to apply my knowledge to real world problems. The best part of my educational opportunities was getting to take a course in forensic science which has inspired me to pursue a career in forensics.
My experience with CapoUSD was great at San Juan hills high school. I’ve had teachers that still ask me how my academic career is going and support me throughout the extensive process of applying to universities. They always have resources available such as counseling, library, tutoring sessions with NHS, and many more. Although the food and facilities are not the best, they do a great job at accommodating for all kinds of students. The academics are good in my experience- I have taken 9 AP classes throughout high school and liked most of my teachers and the material was intense, but it prepared us for the AP exams. I have also had the opportunity of having teachers who are actually passionate about what they teach Which helps Immensely with my learning process because it makes us students more engaged and curious.Overall, I was lucky to have my high school experience at a school part of Capistrano Unified School District.
Overall, despite a few minor mistakes within scheduling, classes, and several temporary academic counselors in high school, I think the district is doing well with improving the quality and atmospheres of all schools. A majority of the teachers are great and really care. Personally I've never had a problem with any teacher up until my senior year- and that was do constant absence, a lack of teaching for AP statistics, and eventually temporary leave. However, the administration was quick to resolve the problem and made sure to find a new teacher and get us back on track. The school spirit is also great, my favorite memory from high school has to be the Friday night football games, where the whole town joined together to support our team! Academically, the english department is by far one of the best, although required to take four years of English, every single teacher has gone above and beyond to prepare students for their futures.
