Canandaigua City School District Reviews
While I was in high school I joined clubs to enhance my experience. I was a part of key club where we volunteered around the community, I was in Future Business Leaders of America where I was the treasurer and discussed news and other information in the business field, and I was also a part of Ski club, where we would go to Bristol Mountain one day a week and snowboard ( I didn't know how to before the club). The teachers were wonderful and I made lifelong friendships that I still keep in contact with even while attending my current College. Even though I never played sports while at high school, my friends really loved the programs we had as well as a massive, new field for soccer, lax and football was being put in the year I graduated. I loved my four years and this school really helped me to come out of my shell and helped me turn into the person I am today. I would say I had a fantastic experience and miss the people and the environment that the school provided for me!
The teachers are nice but the grading is easy. I did not feel prepared for college upon entering. I had a 90-grade point average but really struggled on AP exams and the SAT. I never had to study to do well in the classes and had no idea how to take notes or study coming to college. A lot of the students there are petty and there are a lot of cliques; it's had to be included on things if you don't fit in. The athletic facilities are very good there, with just getting a new stadium in the past couple years, but the money could have been better spent on new bathrooms which they are in desperate need of. Overall my experience there was kind of average. I just wish they prepared their students better for college.
Canandaigua City School District offers many extra curricular activities for students of all kinds. Those extra activities led me to my first job, volunteer opportunities, scholarships, and connections that helped me grow and develop as a person. There's plenty of AP courses to get a years worth of college under your belt before graduating as well and the list of classes they offer is growing. For students who aren't interested in college, they also coordinate with BOCES to teach student trade jobs. All in all, there's a lot of opportunity that I was offered going to this school and some of my teachers really went out of their way to help me.
