Canal Winchester Local School District Reviews
One thing I liked about Canal Winchester is how the drama department had a different show every year. I also like how certain teachers were able to communicate with the students. One thing i would like to see change is more creativity in school activities. Food choices is another thing I would like to see change for future students. I completely understand that we can't have filet mignon for lunch, but we should at least change the different pizza flavors or have healthier choices. I like how the community of Canal Winchester involves the younger students in things the high school is doing. For example, the french club will go to the elementary school and teach them words in french.
They take bullying VERY seriously. We were always pleased with how issues were dealt with. I also love how the elementary schools are separated by grade, not geography, so there is no division based on socio-economic factors. Love the diversity, love the teachers, love the school security, love the extracurriculars - love everything.
Canal Winchester is a great place for diversity. There are many opportunities for students who wish to excel to take AP or college credit courses. However, there is little guidance to students before entering college. Many teachers seem uninterested or burnt out in growing students capabilities. The high school is overcrowded and results in a hostile environment for both students and teachers.
