The main problem at the moment in Calallen Independent School District is the blatant disregard of representation from groups within the school. The administrators and school board have the final deciding factor always and no suggestions from parents or the student body are ever even reviewed or taken into consideration. School there has become more of a prison than a learning environment with the regulations and restrictions that are placed upon students. This being said, the overall discipline and quality of grade performance in the school has been majorly decreasing with every year with no signs of stopping.
The teachers are great! There is an opportunity to receive a college readiness education thru AP and Dual Credit classes. I wish the school did not rank until the end of the year rather than the third quarter of your senior year.
It is one of the best in the areas! There are a lot of great families in the school district. Great football and baseball programs. College readiness could be better. Some of the schools need updating, especially the high school. I’m concerned with student safety. It’s a very cliquish school. If you are new to the area, it can be hard to fit in.
