Brownsville Independent School District has always been very supporting, helpful, and accepting of every student in their district. They have given us countless opportunities to succeed and I never realized until all this recent school safety controversy, but our district cares about us so much and truly wants to keep us safe. I know they always have our best interest at heart and truly want to see everyone succeed. The thing I would say the district could work on, is the improvement of the older schools in our district. I attend the newest school with the best resources and best teachers , but I just wish the entire district had the opportunities and resources our school had.
When it comes to BISD, I have lived here for the majority of my life. Since then, the majority of my teachers have been amazing. They care about their students. As a dancer, I have been on the dance teams for both my middle school and high school career. Starting at Vela Middle School, I went on to audition for the Hanna Strutters and have served as 1st Lieutenant for these two years. The only thing I would say is to give us more oppurtunity to bring back awards and accomplishments for our school. We do so out of our pocket because there is decreased funding compared to sports such as football, baskbetall, volleyball, etc. Ultimately, after graduating, I can say BISD has prepared me to do well after high school.
What I enjoy about the Brownsville independent school district is the multitude of pathways, courses, and extra curricular activities offered. I really like the Space pathway offered in my high school, which gave me a better idea of engineering. Along with all those classes, competitiveness is well present in all the clubs and classes which makes school exciting and helps push everyone to do their absolute best.
