I have been a student apart of this county throughout my 13 years of school. . It was difficult adjusting to new surroundings but I am glad I had the resources available when help was needed. High school was a rocky experience, especially my freshman year due to covid--but I am sure that is frequently mentioned here. I wish they would inform students more on their junior and senior years. Everyone says junior year is the hardest, however, they never touched on how senior year was much more difficult. Yes, SATs were a pain as well as the studying that came along with it. Yet, we were not warned about having to fill out college applications, write our essays, etc. Some people did not even know what Common App was until their second semester of senior year! Luckily, my BRACE advisor, Meryl Raff, dedicates her time to helping students better themselves, shaping us into better people for a better future.
Honestly, during my time at JP Taravella High School, I enjoyed my classes and teachers. They would always put in the most effort, especially for those who wanted to put the work in. However, If you weren't in the advanced classes the teacher's level of care wasn't as high. When it came to the school's diversity and culture it was great! Everywhere you turn you can find your community somewhere and it was allowed for an easy transfer for incoming students.
