The teachers care about their students, they give you every chance to succeed. The building are good and everyone works really hard to make the school an enjoyable experience. The school has tons of school spirit and is fun to go to everyday
It was really good overall, nice teachers who really care about you and want to see you succeed. I spent all 4 years of high school there and I wouldnt Want to be anywhere else. They are very focused on sports and getting you engaged in any program they might have like theater, band, sports or art, and they really give you many options to explore what you want to do after high school.
I've had a great experience. The teachers are constantly challenging me and encouraging. They are very understanding and helpful. One issue, that has gotten better, is communication. Sometimes we feel not informed about what is going on. At one point this year we had a half day because the power went out. People still went to school, but once there none of the teachers took attendance, people just started leaving, the busses did not get there for like a couple of hours, now we have to make up that day. Also, we have a budget cut. Now we are going back to 5 classes a day, getting rid of block scheduling. Teachers/classes are being cut, so we have fewer options and larger class sizes. Most people have to rearrange their four-year plan. For instance, I can't take an engineering class, I can't take APUSH, so I'm going to take the history classes out of order. I do not believe this will impede performance/prep, but it brings the school down from excellent/very good to average.
I would like to see more extracurricular activities for students. I would also like to see more evolvement in the community from everyone. I also wish to see more connections with other school considering mine is a charter school.
I started in this district as a freshman in high school. It was very difficult to make friends, no one is welcoming, considering everyone here grew up together and do not like when someone new joins their friend group. The teachers here are friendly and seem to care about their students and want us to succeed.
The high school needs to be upgraded asap. There is a lack of working bathrooms, decent locker rooms and the teachers lounges are crappy. No bonuses should be given out to admin if the kids don't have enough working toilets/sinks! AP teachers should be screened better for their ability to teach AP classes.
The district has amazing academics. Especially at the high school level you see students with seemingly endless choices of classes and after school activities. They are encouraged to take the path that prepares them for their particular future and must rely on themselves to be successful on that path. There is also a constant call to improve the climate of the school to make it more friendly and accepting.
The sense of community was always present. This school district highly encourages students to be extremely involved in extracurriculars, which I believe contributed to my being able to present myself as a well-rounded individual with strong academics to my universities, allowing me to receive acceptance letters from all of the institutions I applied to.
On my third and final year at kickemuit middle school and have enjoyed it 100%! The school's administrators are all very nice and know how to keep the students in line. The school is very clean and safe with a wonderful learning environment. If you are on the fence about sending your child to Kickemuit Middle School then I strongly recommend you give it a try!
