I have been within the Brick Township public school district for many years now and I have had a wonderful experience. Of course there are times where things could have been done better, but that comes with every experience. Brick Township makes every student feel important and taken care of along their schooling journey! I have been so happy with all the teachers I’ve had as well. They have supported me along my journey and have made me who I am today! Specifically the S.T.E.M academy has opened me up to multiple opportunities, understanding teachers, and the best college readiness path I could ask for. While it is just the beginning for the program, it has been a wonderful experience and it has taught me many life lessons and skills that I am grateful for. I hope that when I am older I can return to this school district and see how much progress has been made with the program, and one day I may send my own kids here as well!
My experience with Brick Township was average. While there I had a few great teachers who helped shape me into who I am today, but the majority of my time there was filled with counselors who didn't care about the students, ridiculous policies, and bad food. Students at Brick Township are not treated with the respect that we are expected to give to our superiors, and it reflects in the way that students act. Students are bullied every day and the counselors do nothing, even when the students directly reach out to them. If I could make changes, I would hire trained psychologists to do weekly mental health checks on students, and I would implement more school bonding activities, like pep rallies, to boost the student moral.
The overall academics in the Brick Township School district is very average. The courses offered are not super challenges or easy. Teachers do their best to prepare students for assignments, tests, and standardized tests, but can't always fix the incompetence of certain unmotivated individuals. There is also a great variety of different clubs and activities that students can participate in and make friends while doing so. To be honest I do not like the school culture that much in high school. It is very cliquey and popularity oriented. The best thing that you can do is to ignore all of the distractions surrounding you and to focus on the grades. Schools in Brick pride themselves on sports, but the only sport that someone cares about is football or cheer. Other sports get forgotten or are potentially on the verge of ending due to budget cuts. Luckily for you, school librarians are very helpful and resourceful. Overall, Brick is a safe town with a decent school district.
