The welcoming and overall positive atmosphere within the Bradley County School System is motivating and provides a sense of security. Students are given various opportunities to pursue passions/hobbies, voice their perspectives, and obtain support for unfavorable circumstances. However, a healthy balance in the classroom between rigor and intrigue is often missed. Teachers are mostly either academically overly-demanding or not demanding enough. Consequently, some students are excessively pushed and therefore buckle while others cruise through untaught material. In both cases, students are ill prepred for postsecondary education because they either enter too exhausted or intellectually unqualified.

This year they have been great in getting us the information we need for college. In previous years they were lacking. As a junior they should have done things but didn’t and now it feels like we are playing catch up on things we should have done our junior year. I’m glad they are having meetings, and they follow up with students to ensure we do it. The teachers are great in helping to ensure we succeed. The counselors are not so great. It is hard to get in to meet with them and when you do they don’t seem helpful in what you need. Mrs. Presswood is the one who has been the most helpful in preparing you and giving you the info to succeed for college.
My experience with the Bradley County School District has been a pretty average one. There are many ups and downs when it comes to the education provided for the students here. The teachers are a hit and miss when it comes to finding a respectable, inspiring, and educating individual. Throughout my time here, I have found that very few teachers care for their students. However, the few that I have found, were some of the most wonderful people I have ever met, and they have left a great impact on my life and future. So, while there are many issues with the education being provided, I have to say that those few and far between can make the experience a joyful one.
