Bogota Public Schools gives an opportunity for all students and provides a variety of ways for students to be involved. Bogota Public Schools works well when it comes to encouraging time management. Most students in this town do music, clubs, and sports while making honorable grades. Bogota staff members are very strict when it comes to student safety and reminds students constantly of not opening doors to strangers. My one absolute thing about Bogota is how the staff wants their students to have potential that they see in all. This can be through auditorium meetings, guest speakers, and guidance support groups. I feel very safe and worthy at this school knowing that there is always teachers and friends willing to answer my problems. Bogota Public Schools honestly made my childhood and high school life worth living.
The Bogota School District is full of contradictions. The teachers are determined to help their students understand the material but the standardized test scores are dreadfully low. The school district claims its budget is too small to amply provide for the arts and music programs but the taxes in our town are so high that the school should be overflowing with excess cash. There is no budget for air conditioning in rooms on the top floors with no windows and 30 students in there at a time yet the social services office on the lowest floor in the school that holds two counselors does. The walls of the entrance halls are freshly painted but the hallways that the students use are chipping. The gymnasium has been renovated in the past five years but the auditorium has not been touched in the past fifty.
I had a great time at Bogota High School. Some of the best years of my life mainly because of baseball and cross country. My friends at Bogota are still my friends today. Bogota is a tiny school so everyone knows everybody and it's a great environment. The only complaint I would have is maybe a few teachers weren't the best ones I've had. Other then that, high school was some of the best years of my life.
