In the two years that I attended Bexley, I had an overall really wonderful experience. The students were welcoming and the teachers were all very supportive of my transition and helped me thrive in their classes. I was able to make friends playing sports and doing theatre, art club and taking advanced courses too! I felt a strong sense of community with those I shared ideals with, which were many of my peers and felt that I was pushed academically and prepared for the college application process.
Socially, I have never been fond of Bexley. It is a very small community where everyone knows everyone, nothing stays a secret. Personally, I have never had a close, tight group of friends. I grew up going to one of the elementary schools in the community, with a consistent group of friends. When in middle school, however, a lot changed. My best friend at the time was so focused on dance and I was focused on Field hockey, so we drifted away from each other. From there, I became close with a few girls on my team, one being from my group in elementary school. The five of us were so close, too close that we had no other friends. As one could expect, that group became too toxic. They kicked me out, brought me back and then kicked me out again, and brought me back again. Eventually, I got sick of that pattern, so I left. The pattern continued for years with different groups, until my junior year. I found a group of friends that do not judge me for anything, and accept me for who I am.
My children have excelled after moving here to Bexley! We came from a neighboring district and it just didn’t click for us. Since moving, both children have made friendships and excelled at school
