The Berea City School District is very average. They don't have good lunches. The teachers don't let you go to the bathroom. The transportation system that they use barely works.
They have took away good lunch choices and downgraded utensils to eat the bad food with. They once had to take the lettuce away because of salmonella. It wasn’t their fault that the lettuce had salmonella, but they took away the salads for vegetarians for two weeks!
The teachers at this school don't let you go to the bathroom, unless you really need to. The bathrooms also usually don't lock, they don't have mirrors, and if they are out of order they stay that way.
The transportation system that BCSD provides is horrible! The bus drives are usually mean old ladies who hate kids. Sometimes, the buses will be so late that you'll be standing out in the cold for half an hour.
Even though I've only listed some bad things about this district, there are still good things about it!

I have attended school within the Berea City School District my entire life. Over the years, I believe that the schools have gotten worse. In elementary school they had everything, no squeaky chairs, working heat/AC, appealing appearance & properly working restrooms. Now, not so much. Yes buildings deteriorate but they should still be taken care of. Especially since teachers and students spend roughly eight hours a day here.
Something like squeaky desks/chairs can become very distracting to students. Classroom temperature should be not too hot or too cold because it is statistically proven that memory is impacted negatively. The surrounding atmosphere is also important. I often found myself embarrassed at my own school because of the looks. Lastly, that leaves the restrooms. I have found no toilet paper, no soap and leaking toilets. Who would want to go to the bathroom in such environment like this?
The school system is great!Friendly environment, easy going, and very beneficial education! Polaris Career Center is associate with Berea High specifically and they do an amazing job to turn our teens into job ready adults!
